Product Summary

Do you own a Ford Model T?

If so 1212 Designs has the solution for you.  This small circuit board is designed to bypass the vibrating contacts and capacitor on each of the 4 coils in your Ford Model T car or truck.

Key Features

It requires no permanent modifications to the vehicle.  It is easy to connect or disconnect for a show that may require that your Ford be original as possible.  (A small jumper wire with a spade lug at each end is placed across the vibrator contacts on each of the 4 coils, this is easily done as the nuts need only be loosened.  The contact setting is maintained for those times when your Model T needs to be all original.)

Application Uses

  • All Ford Model T Cars and Trucks with Coils

Benefits

The Master Vibrator eliminates the vagaries of the individual contact adjustment required on each of the 4 spark coil units as well as the internal capacitor that may well be defective or out of specification.

Specifications

The Master Vibrator may be operated from either the 6 Volt DC system that was supplied on 1919 and later Model T’s or from the AC Magneto.  It will also work with Model T’s that have been retrofitted to 12 Volt DC electrical systems, so long as your Model T still uses the 4 spark coil units.

It may be mounted to the wooden firewall with two self-tapping screws and standoffs (supplied).  For those who do not wish to have any non-original holes in the firewall, the circuit board may be secured to the wiring harness with two cable ties (supplied).

Instructions

Remove the 4 spark coil units from the coil box.  Loosen an upper and a lower screw on each of the 4 spark coil units and place the short jumper wire with the two forked lugs (supplied) on each of the 4 spark coil units.  Retighten the screws.  This jumps out the vibrating contacts but preserves their adjustment for easy conversion back to the original.  They will maintain a sound similar to the original.  This also jumps out the internal capacitor, which is prone to failure due to age.  Only the coil windings need be good for proper operation of the Master Vibrator.  Compared to the capacitor and vibrating contact adjustment, the coil windings are much less likely to fail.

Remove the ignition wire that connects to the common terminal of the coil box (this is the wire that connects to the bottom contact of each of the 4 spark coil units) and connect it to the large, screw terminal on the Master Vibrator circuit board (terminal “P”).

Connect the red wire that is already attached to the circuit board to the common terminal of the coil box (terminal “C”).

Connect the longer, gray wire that is already attached to the circuit board to a convenient ground point on the engine or chassis of the vehicle.  Clean off any paint or rust at this point to secure a good ground connection (terminal “G”).

Mount the circuit board as desired.  This completes the Master Vibrator installation.  Note that a reverse of this procedure will put your Ford Model T back as original.
