Great Sound
with heavy-duty, reliable construction. OTL
(Output Transformer-Less) Stereo Power Amplifier.
This is one of 25 identical, limited production units to be offered
for sale. The circuitry is a modified
version of an OTL amplifier that was first described by D.P. Dickie and A.
Macovski in the June 1954 issue of Audio magazine.
Performance is enhanced by the use of modern components and a dual
mono configuration. Each of the two channels
has it's own 625 VA power transformer, bias transformer and filtering
circuits. The 275 volt B+ transformer and
rectifier for the driver stages is common to both channels; however, each
has it's own filter circuit.
Unlike the original circuit that used 3 ea. 6082
vacuum tubes in parallel for the output stage, this design uses 10 ea. 6AS7
/ 6080 tubes in parallel for each channel (In 1954, it was a single mono
amplifier. The 6082 is the same as the 6AS7 / 6080 except for heater
voltage.) This allows for the use of less overall feedback and the
elimination of an additional 12AT7 driver stage resulting in a
considerable increase in power with the ability to drive a 4 Ohm speaker
load. The driver tube heaters are powered from a small DC supply.
High quality, conservatively rated components are used
for reliability and long life. Output stage DC balance is easily adjusted
with a single control for each channel. LED indicators are provided to make
this adjustment easy. Terminals are provided so that feedback may be taken
directly from the speaker, this includes the speaker wiring within the
feedback loop (optional).
Speaker and amplifier protection is provided by 10
fuses. If any one of the 10 should blow, the amplifier is quickly shut down
and the blown fuse is indicated by one of 10 LED's.
The amplifier is relay controlled and may be switched
on and off from a preamp, switched outlet. It may be turned on and off
directly at the amplifier as well.
The conservative component ratings and heavy-duty,
reliable construction may make this OTL amplifier ideal for disco sound and
guitar applications as well as home stereo installations.
Comes supplied with: Instruction and service packet,
IEC power cord, control power cord, fuse puller and spare fuses.

- Four high quality industrial circuit boards
are used for the output stage, power supply, fuse and LED indicator
circuit boards
- The driver stages are built on four
turret style industrial quality boards, this allows for changes that
the audio experimenter may wish to try out
- High temperature, Teflon
insulated wire is used for all interconnect wires
- Chassis is finished,
inside and out with a durable, powder coat finish
- Driver stage uses a
12AT7 (Mullard) and a 12SN7GTA (GE) in each channel (two 6SN7's may be used
in place of the 12SN7's with a simple wiring change) Output stages use
twenty 6AS7GA (GE) tubes
